Summer morning at our house

A little treat that Rick made me
I couldn't finish it though, because I got the shakes, but I still appreciated it .

Blue went to the groomer's today. Here's a before and after shot.

We were hoping for some rain today, but it sort of circled around us and thundered alot. Everything is so dry here and my flowers by the front door are pretty much dead.
Thinking of that, I am very saddened about the news of floods in Wisconsin and Michigan. What a heart aching situation. I haven't watched the news lately, because it's sort of hard to handle the overload of information, mostly sad, so I'm not up on current events, lately. Kind of bad of me, but sometimes you can only handle so much. Are you with me?

We went to go see Kung Fu Panda this morning (only $4 a piece before 12). It was fantastic. We didn't think it would be our cup of tea, but we all (me and three kids), really enjoyed it.

My friend Kathy is coming tomorrow. I think I should probably give her a call.

I have chemo at 7am tomorrow morning. I was hoping to get it out of the way. It's nice and quiet there that early and I don't have to wait around, plus I get lots of attention from the nurses! I'm such a baby!

I missed my Cancer Overcomers mtg tonight. No reason in particular, I just wanted to stay home with Rick. Right now he is on the Wii fit doing some classy yoga moves. He's got great balance. Oops now he's doing strength training. I think I could use to get on that thing. Does anyone else have one? It's kind of fun.
Well, it's past Sarah's bedtime. Good night.

  1. LOVE the before and after shots of Blue. He's so handsome. Looking forward to meeting your friend soon! Hey, she'll be here for F.O.C. Friday. :-)

  2. Wow, summer mornings at your house look very much like summer mornings at our house!

It's quite ironic that you need the rain and we have too much! The flooding is so hard to read about. I remember my chemo days and I didn't watch the news either. Don't feel bad about not staying on top of the news. Watch only happy things at the movies and on tv and read happy books. There will come a time when you can take on more emotional issues but right now you need your limited emotional energy focused on you and that is not selfish. Anyone who has fought the cancer battle can relate.

Thanks for posting the pictures - it is like a sneak peek into your life.

    :) Kristi

  3. Hi Joann,

It was nice seeing you and meeting Sarah yesterday at Betty's. Andrew Weil (a famous naturopathic doctor in Arizona) said that one of the 10 most important things we can do to improve health is to keep flowers in our immediate surroundings. Even by looking at flowers the brain produces the same chemistry as it does when we are smiling (also a very healthy habit).
Also, here is that quote that I love, about cancer. I think Betty already sent it to you, but here it is again...
    Have a great day today!
    Virginia

    Cancer is so limited,
It cannot cripple Love, It cannot shatter hope,
It cannot corrode faith, It cannot destroy peace,
It cannot kill friendship, It cannot suppress memories,
It cannot silence courage, It cannot invade the soul,
    It cannot conquer the spirit,
    Cancer is so limited

  4. Our bags are packed and we are ready to go. I'll call you when we land in Orlando.

Hope your Chemo went okay today.

Can't wait to see you, tonight!
    Love,
    Kathy

  5. We haven't had much time to talk about Jesus lately....He's SO wonderful. I just wanted to say His Name 'cause He's everything to me. See you soon.

  6. JESUS JESUS JESUS, THERE IS JUST SOMETHING ABOUT THAT NAME..if all else seems to be blank, dead, and an obstruction--just think upon HIS NAME... Today, in all those single solitary moments, you were on my mind...You make mention of your treatments like you were going to get groceries....What FAith That Is... Others, in your same spot, give prayer request like laundry list, but you, sweet thing, just march on---with company on the way...The Mercy of Our Saviour, has certainly coloured your world. I don't think you have to just dwell in lollipop land...cuz life sometimes isn't always fuzzy like a peach. Thinking on whats good and right and holy, is like Gileads balm to the soul, but even Jesus was a man of sorrow...and it is OKAY.....when you slip down the mountain and land in the valley...I am pretty positivie, Jesus will meet you there as well.
You are just a little jem, genuine and not fake, transparent, and not phony...You lift others up, by being so real....Thinking of you, wanting Jesus to carry you above the rocky jagged peaks of the cliff, and to allow you to soar like the Eagle...
Rest well, Slumber like a newborn, and know many are whispering your name in prayer to the Father...

  7. I don't have cancer so I can't understand what you're going through. You are on my prayer list however. I visit this blog because you are a friend of mine. I don't normally leave comments...I'm more of a "fly on the wall" in your life. I'm wondering what that last person who commented meant. I like to keep a list of my prayers in somewhat of my own journal. I do this to organize my thoughts. When I have prayer requests, I send out a list to my family and friends so they can pray with me. I'm not aware of a "right" way or a "wrong" way to pray. I believe that whatever method we use to talk to God that works for us God hears us. He hears all prayers. To that last comment: please don't poke fun at different prayer styles and let's be thankful we have other Christian friends to pray with. Insulting our prayer style is just the devil working his way between us to grow/spread division.

  8. I think she was saying (Im guessing) that sometimes people put so much emphasis on such tiny things in life-I have read prayer requests that ask for the community to pray for sniffles in their daughter. I know personally that the lord can do anything and no one is denying that. But Joann handles this with such class, and wants to include others in her prayer list too. We all are crazy with our own to do lists- to me it does seem a bit strange to leave a list of 10 things for people to pray for. I dont think however that anyone is insulting anyone else. I did not take the comment as that. she is mentioning it to joann, and expressing her feelings to her. She wasnt trying to offend anyone. lets not get nasty here. It s silly.

  9. I agree! This is Joann's blog and not a forum to discuss how to pray. I wrote the comment from 2 above (the one that felt insulted). Sorry to offend any of Joann's readers. I just felt compelled to say something. Sorry. God is good. Let's celebrate His greatness together and pray for healing for Joann. We love you Joann!!

  10. I hope you are having a beautiful "almost"---summer day.
Was having a thought or two, of
you, and wanted just to share that. Did you soar like an Eagle
through your last session? If so we rejoice with you, If contrair--we hurt with you. You are a lady of such strength---valiant so often, and honest, when you are skipping through a valley. You have been a beacon---through it all. With thoughts---jinji
